Thulston Piggin Antecedents |
Descendants of William and Susannah Piggin of Elvaston, Derbyshire |
|||
---|---|---|---|
It is presumed that this family is descended from the yeoman Piggin
family that had been farming since at least Jacobean times in Elvaston. Thulston (also spelled Thurlaston or Thurleston) is one of the three townships making up Elvaston parish. See in particular the land records and the story of the William Piggin charity. The parish church of Elvaston is in the grounds of a large country house about 4 miles from Spondon, and neighbours Thulston. Thulston has no parish church of its own. Three Piggin graves were visible and intact at Elvaston graveyard on a visit in 2004. -- Paul Piggin. For more details of "Elvaston Castle", see Kelly's |
